Drama in Room 5
We are very fortunate to have had Kate Revell - our specialist performing arts teacher, teaching drama to Room 5 tamariki over the past three weeks. The focus of our lessons was around the Maori legend of How Maui Slowed the Sun.
The children have been developing skills around effectively using their voice, and developing dramatic elements of space and movement.
We asked the tamariki what they liked about doing drama. Here are some of their responses:
Phoebe - "I liked being the sun and wriggling and squiggling in the rope."
Malachi - "I liked having to do the work very fast."
Louis - I liked building the cave."
Ajooni - "It's been amazing and I have loved all the fun games."
Ayan - " I liked being a squiggly wiggly sun."
Luke - "I liked being a house."
