Week 5 in Pataitai Pod

Tania Gallagher —

Next week we are out for a trip as well as Teacher Only Day.

We have another busy week planned in the Pataitai Pod. The students have been working hard in all areas this week and we look forward to building on this next week.

A few reminders for you all:

On Thursday we are off to Ferrymead for the day. We are leaving school at 9.15 and will return by 3pm. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch, drink bottle and a warm jacket in case it is cold. The children are to wear school uniform for this outing. The parents who have offered to help have been notified already. If you haven't heard from us, then we will not be needing your help for the day. During the trip, we will be looking at changes over the last 50 years in education, communication, transport etc.

Next Friday it is a Teacher Only Day. The teachers will be spending the day with the rest of our Cluster Schools on Professional Development. Please also note that Monday 6th June is Queen's Birthday so school will be closed on this day as well.

Speeches and Plays. Some children will be presenting a speech this term, while others will be sharing a Play. We have two speech topics for them to begin thinking about. They are:

1. Animals should be kept in the zoo.

2. Video games promote violence.

The speeches will be written as a persuasive speech to give their opinion. We will begin working on the speeches in Week 6. These will be presented to the Pataitai Pod in Week 9.

Have a lovely weekend and hopefully we will see some sun.
