Lockdowns impact with Covid-19
National Geographic has put in research to why Covid-19 is so lethal. The study, which must still undergo peer review before publication, found that the tiny pollutant particles known as PM 2.5, breathed over many years, grows our chances of dying from Covid-19. PM 2.5 are atmospheric particulate matter (PM) and are less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter.
The lockdowns that are happening to prevent spread of Covid 19, are making the air cleaner with less vehicle production. “If you have Covid-19 you have been in dirty air”, said Francesca Dominici (Italian statistician). It’s because these little particles penetrate our body that causes the immune system to go down and makes it easy for Covid-19 to attack us.
In New York the pollution dropped by 22%. In India, the government put down lockdowns hastily and where air pollution is among the world’s worst. “People are reporting seeing the Himalayas for the first time from where they live,” Lauri Myllyvirta. Also in New Delhi pollution went down 70% which is a huge amount.
You may think that lockdowns are the answer to control pollution but no. The lockdowns are not the answer as the economic impact is too high but, but it is absolutely needed. The top priority of these lockdowns are the people, and the economy can be rebuilt.
