I’m Andrew Couper and I have been teaching drums at Merrin School for 18 months although I did teach drums here about 10 years ago. I have been teaching drums since 1997 when I started teaching as a secondary school teacher in Timaru. I started to teach the instrument as an extra-curricular activity & things quietly evolved from there. I teach at a number of other schools in Christchurch both secondary and primary but I always look forward to being at Merrin School. I play in 3 bands currently; Garden City Big Band, Vacoda Trio and The Kitsch in Sync. The school has recently provided funding for a percussion group to meet once a week and we will be looking at extending membership beyond the current group of drummers in Term 3.
