BOT Profile - Jasmine Rohland
This week, we introduce Jaz who has been on our Board for the last 3 years.
I am Jasmine (Jaz) Rohland, mum to Livia in year 7 and Laila who has proudly just completed her Whetu Kohara Merrin years. I am also a wife to Michael who is a South African born kiwi.
I like to get things done. I am a task orientated person, I live by my calendar, and everyone has access to it, (if it's not in there it literally never happened) I have an innate desire to want to help people. That's why I am good at my job and why I align myself closer to Whetu Kohara Merrin School.
I am Ngai Tahu, my hapus are Arowhenua, Ngati Mamoe, Tauhuriri, Huirapa and Teatawhina. I descend from helpful people who also had a huge sense of responsibility and of community. My whanau were regular participants in our school's whanau hui's.
I have been a board member since 2019, I have lent my skills to the recruitment process having been involved in the interviews and selection panel and I have advocated for the preservation of our role. This year my goals are to help source some extra funding for the school via grants and to help make our school a safer place to come and leave from. And then there is the building project........ but it's more like a wave (haha). I also read lots, governance and policies that come up for review, the school charter - the annual plan, read the reports from the SLT and team members, and look at trends and achievement records. I love hearing first-hand about how the students are progressing and the great work that is being done about the school.
