2, 108 Primary School athletes from Christchurch and Central Canterbury took part in the CPSS Athletics Competition at the Ashburton Domain on Wednesday 6th December.
Among that very specific number of 2, 108 were 16 Merrin students showcasing their athletic talents. We are very proud of the number of students we were able to send this year - 16 is one of our biggest teams in recent years. We are also extremely proud of the students and their performances, and the hard work that they put into their preparations.
The Ashburton Domain is known for sweltering in the summer heat, but this year the day of the event dawned a little cooler than the previous 30 something degree days leading up to it. It proved to the perfect weather for athletics with some extraordinary athletic ability on display.
A huge well done to the following students who represented Merrin School in Ashburton:
Jahstys, Pere, Drew L, Hunter, Olivia M, Caitlyn W, Keisha, Sapphire, Isabel, Namiko, Gaby, Savannah, Sophia, Jun and Sasha.
Special congratulations to Jahstys and Gaby. Jahstys came 6th in the 13 Year Old Girls Discus event and Gaby placed in the following AWD events: 1st - 50m Sprint; 2nd - Discus and 3rd - Shot Put.
Thank you to all the parents who provided transport and came down to support our competitors.
