Once again we rocked the house with a performance rated as our best ever Gala Event! We acknowledged our superstars with cups, trophies and certificates.

During last Friday's Celebration Assembly and this week's Gala Night we paid tribute to our Merrin School athletes and their achievements.

If these two new entrants are anything to go by, it's been a busy term!

2, 108 Primary School athletes from Christchurch and Central Canterbury took part in the CPSS Athletics Competition at the Ashburton Domain on Wednesday 6th December.

Ms Shah is moving to a leadership position at Rāwhiti School, close to her home. Rāwhiti School opened in 2015: a merger of Central New Brighton, Freeville, and North New Brighton schools.

End of Year Treat for the Year 2 and 3 Team

In July, Mrs Germon’s husband moved to Australia for his new job as general manager of Australian Twenty20 Big Bash franchise, the Sydney Thunder. In the meantime, Mrs Germon has had to stay here in Christchurch, leading the Kāhui team at Merrin School, and looking after her family.

We love our new musical instruments and caught in the act enjoying them, are board members Peri Marks, Greg Hansen, Mirjam Phillips and Rozz Guillemot.

There was dancing, singing, and instrumental solos during our annual Christmas singing at Avonhead Mall.

Our music students couldn't believe their luck when they were gifted chocolates after singing in our local Countdown supermarket. 

Our Senior Choir and  7/8 Music Elective students shared Christmas music with the residents of Maidstone Hospital. 

Professors from Tartu University in Estonia have visited New Zealand as their research has led them to come and look at best practice here. On recommendations from NZ Universities, the Professors visited Stonefields School in Auckland and Merrin School! They loved our child centred curriculum and commented on how well the values were being embedded across the school. 

What a great day the Junior Stars had for their Athletics day on Thursday 7 December.
