Doreen Lennox —

I hope everyone had a good holiday and you’re all enjoying being back at school.

I was thinking the other day about celebrations.  We celebrate harvest festival why not spring? There are so many things to celebrate, the flowers that bloom after winter including colourful daffodils, Fresia, crocus and fruit trees in full blossom.  We prepare the garden for planting vegetables once we are fairly sure there will be no more frosts.  It’s also a time of year when we see newborn lambs in the fields.  Remember to thank God for all the things we enjoy so much.

Author: Michael Foreman

Publisher: Walker books

This is a book about hope.  It tells a story of a young boy in the time of war.  A barbed wired fence cuts him off from the hills where he used to walk.  Then one day he sees a tiny green shoot growing by fence.

Read the book to find out how the barbed wired fence disappeared under leafy bushes making a home for birds and butterflies.
