One of the gifts that has remained near the top of the sales chart is Baby and Mother Health. Buying this gift acts as a donation to the Well Baby programme in Jordan, primarily helping Palestinian mothers and the children under six who live in the nearby camp.

One of those mothers is Ruqaya who took her one-year-old daughter Kawthar to the free medical clinic run by the Department of Service to Palestinian Refugees (DSPR). Ruqaya says Kawthar had stopped growing and she did not know what to do. She was struggling to feed the rest of her family and had no money for medical care.

On the day of the clinic, she carried Kawthar to the clinic as soon as it opened. In the first hour more than 60 mothers from the neighbourhood arrived with their children. Most were Palestinian and Syrian refugees but some were local Jordanians. None could afford healthcare and many sometimes missed meals because of soaring food prices and cuts in humanitarian support.

Kawthar was one of the smallest children to visit the clinic that day. She stayed close to her mother and seemed very weak. The paediatrician identified she was suffering from chronic anaemia and prescribed special milk and regular monitoring to check on her growth. DSPR gave Ruqaya the milk Kawthar needed and she is now doing much better.
