What part do you play in the services at your church?

Sione Pongi from St John’s Methodist Church in Hamilton plays the drums in the Tongan band. Sometimes he comes to the English-speaking service and accompanies the organist and pianist who play for the choir and hymn singing. There are lots of things you as children can do, such as helping with morning tea, greeting people as they come to church and reading a lesson. I’m sure you can think of more.

This is an adventure story in the ‘elastic island’ series with Kiri, Jed and twins Emma and Ethan travelling to Rarotonga with Blong, the cat, and Heathcliff, the dog. They were expecting to have a nice relaxing time but find that there is a problem. They have an unwanted “guest” in their hotel room – a grumpy gecko. How can they get it to leave?

Then all the black pearls on the island are stolen. Can the children catch the thief? This is a story for older children, however I really enjoyed reading it myself.
