New Staff and New Roles at The Connexional Office

A staffing restructure at the Connexional Office involving new roles for two existing staff and one new face at the front desk, will alleviate some of the work pressure on the General Secretary.

We welcome Licinda Wait, as Receptionist and Administrator in her first paid appointment since she graduated with a degree in data analytics from private tertiary education provider, CTU Training Solutions.

Licinda, her mother and her brother emigrated from Johannesburg, South Africa in 2022, joining her father who had arrived in Christchurch two years prior. The reunion of the family was impacted by Covid-19 when  the closing of New Zealand’s borders meant a delay of two years before the Wait trio in Johannesburg could join their husband and father who was busy working and establishing a new home approximately 11,500 kilometres away.

That delay also impacted Licinda’s  study plans as she was in her second year of her degree when she left South Africa. She completed the additional 18 months of her studies participating in lectures online via Teams. The 11-hour time difference between NZ and SA meant she typically started online each day at 7pm (NZ time) and logged off at 2am or sometimes as late as 4am.   She is thoroughly enjoying her new role and the bonus of working regular hours and sleeping through the night.

Lucille Havenga has stepped into a new position as Executive Assistant to the General Secretary and former receptionist Caitlin Griffiths has taken on a position as Personal Assistant to the General Secretary. As Tara benefits from the support of two seasoned, dedicated and highly capable support staff, Licinda is swiftly adapting to her new workplace in a new country of residence.

Licinda Wait took on the role of Receptionist and Administrator at the MCNZ Connexional Office in February this year.
