1) From the Principal
Kia ora Parents, Caregivers and Whanau,
This is the end of my second full week at Middleton Grange School and I’m certainly feeling more and more ‘at home’ as time passes.
Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support for our school, as it’s important to reflect and remember that Middleton Grange is God’s school and everything we do as a school community should be for His glory.
Thank you to those parents that were able to attend the PPTC’s (for Yr 7 - 13) over the last two weeks and for coming into school to support your child’s learning. I hope the conversations were valuable and enriching as well as providing useful feedback/feed forward in each learning area.
A reminder about the survey which closes on Monday 5 August for the purposes of Strategic Planning for Middleton Grange School as we plan for the next three to five years ahead. We value your ideas and input so please use this opportunity to share your thoughts with us. The Board of Trustees will be using this information to create and develop a Strategic Plan for the next phase in the life of Middleton Grange School. Please pray for this process and for work that the Board of Trustees do for the school.
School App: For those who are unaware, Middleton Grange School has a Mobile App for access by the school community. To download the app click this link http://middletongrange.apps.school.nz/share/
This app allows all our schools communication can be in one spot at one time and you can be connected at all times. It has links to our school calendar, makes it easy for you to notify an absence, has contact details for the people you need to talk to most and links to our newsletter and school website. The app also allows us to send out an Alert really promptly if something is happening at school that you need to know about urgently for example a LOCKDOWN.
This is an amazing app and we encourage parents and pupils to download the app today to stay up to date with what is happening in and around the school. It is important to subscribe to the Alert Subscriptions you wish to see. This is done by clicking on the Menu button in the top left corner and clicking Alert Subscriptions and then subscribing to the groups you would like to receive alerts for. We would suggest that everyone subscribes to the Emergency Alert.
School Bus Service: By now you will have received the notice I sent home yesterday to our school community about the school bus service. Please ensure you read the notice carefully as it does explain the background information used to make this decision and can I reassure you that this decision has not been made lightly. We understand this will affect a number of our school families and that is why we have made this decision now to allow sufficient time for alternative transport arrangements to be explored and made.
Senior Boys Basketball Success: Congratulations to our Senior Boys Basketball team on beating Cashmere High School on Tuesday evening in a top of the table clash by 102 to 90. This means they are the current holders of the Dowson Cup for Senior Boys Basketball competition. The players were very keen to share their success with me as you can see by the photo below.
Enjoy your weekend.
