From the Principal

MGS —

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whanau,

All of us make many decisions and choices each and every day, ranging from simple things like what shall we eat or wear to important decisions about our careers, our future, our faith, and our families. At a recent assembly I shared some advice and guidance about this topic with our students.

The key points went as follows:

First, we must:

PAUSE:

We need to take our time when making important decisions and not rush them, to avoid making mistakes.

Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way.

Proverbs 19:2

Then we need to:

READ:

We need to read God’s word, the Bible, to understand what God’s will is for our lives.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Psalm 119:105

Then we need to:

ASK:

We need to talk to other people that we respect and trust to seek their advice and wise counsel before making an important decision.

Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.

Proverbs 15:22

Lastly, we need to:

YIELD:

We need to submit and surrender to God’s will and plan for our lives and be willing to listen to Him.

Not my will, but yours be done.

Luke 22:42

This process of decision making can be summarised as follows:

P AUSE
R EAD
A SK
Y IELD

As we seek God’s will and plan for our lives we need to PAUSE, READ, ASK, YIELD and most importantly PRAY for His wisdom to guide us in making decisions that honour and glorify Him.

I encourage all of us as parents and adults to role model this method and process of decision making to our children and young people as they grow, mature, and face the many challenges that lay ahead.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school; financially, practically and through your prayers.

Blessings in Christ
