Snapshots of Summer by Room 12

MGS —

Some writing from pupils in Room 12 about Summer...

The summer breeze drifted through my bedroom window. Suddenly, I remembered that it was the first day of summer! I rushed downstairs nearly slipping over on the cold wooden floor. Nearly silently,Mum said “Hi”, but I was too busy to notice, hopping on one foot like a circus flamingo pulling on my other gumboot. When I reached the door I paused to prepare myself for what I was going to see. Flinging open the door, I breathed in the warm summer breeze and scanned the garden. There were the same palm trees with the old checkered hammock between them, my old soccer ball that the dog chewed up and the rusty grey shed. Finally summer had arrived. - By Georgia

As I tossed and turned like a wriggly worm, I tried and tried to go to sleep. Itching furiously I tried to think about something else. Eventually, my mum came in and told me to go outside for a breather and a drink of milk. It was still light outside and there was a lovely warm breeze. Gladly I sat down and gulped my milk like a thirsty fish after a drought. Happily, I skipped back to bed and sleepily drifted off. - By Keziah

Sweating from head to toe, I jumped head first into the cool refreshing pool. The water glimmered under the sun, which seemed like a boiling ball of fire in the sky trying to roast me. The warm breeze tickled my face and the birds chirped an amazing song. Energetically splashing around, cooling myself down, I felt lucky to be in the cold water. - By Esther

As soon as we came to a stop, I dove out of the car and sprinted towards the shop entrance. Puffing, I arrived at the tub full of ice creams. Five minutes later I was sitting on the bench under the shade of the trees. Greedily I devoured my ice cream like a hungry lion devouring an antelope. My super sticky fingers made a huge mess as I opened up the car door to go home. On the drive home I felt super satisfied. - By Ethan
