Summer Sport

MGS —

Summer Sport is well underway, into the third week of competition.

We have seven Volleyball teams competing in the Monday night grades, with our Senior A teams preparing themselves for a big month ahead with the Canterbury Champs, South Island Champs and NZ Champs all taking place in March. The Senior A Boys had a fantastic result against top ranked Riccarton High last night, beating them 3-1 for the first time in a long time and remaining unbeaten across the opening three games.

Wednesday Sport is all go, with teams competing in Canoe Polo, Futsal, Summer Hockey, Tennis and Touch. Our Senior Futsal Boys have started the year well in preparation for the upcoming Mainland and NZ Champs, unbeaten so far. The Canoe Polo teams are also gearing up for nationals which are not too far away, with the Senior Girls eyeing another spot on the podium.

Friday evening’s see our Korfball teams in action, with the Senior A team looking to defend their title they won in term four last year, and a group of 25 pupils who attend the Learn to Surf programme at Sumner Beach.

We have Triathlon, Athletics and Adventure Racing events also on the horizon for some of our top athletes. A busy start to the sporting year!
