National Triathlon Champs, South Island Mountain Bike Champs and Geraldine Adventure Race

MGS —

In the last week...

...we have had students at the National Secondary Schools Triathlon and Open Water Swim Championships, South Island Mountain Bike Champs and on the weekend the Geraldine Adventure Race.

Luke Jansen has competed in all three events and placed 6th in the Mountain Bike Champs and a composite team he was in with Josh Currie-Cook and two boys from Cashmere placed 3rd in the Geraldine Adventure Race (this result was fantastic given they had four punctures).

Josh Currie-Cook placed 15th in the U17 Mountain Bike Champs.

Thursday and Friday last week saw the National Secondary Schools Triathlon and Open Water Swim Chamionships held in the beautiful Lake Wanaka. Middleton Grange had three contestants in these championships which saw the best of New Zealand triathletes and swimmers come to Wanaka for two very competitive days of events in stunning Wanaka weather. We entered a mixed team in the most competitive section the under 16 age group and were very impressive finishing 11th not too far behind Christs College and Cashmere High School. Well done to Tessa Davis finishing 20th, Luke Jansen 30th, and Reid Allison 33rd against athletes from all over New Zealand in the individual Triathlon. Tessa also backed up on day two by finishing 8th in the 1500m open water swim and Reid 14th in the Aquathon.

At the Geraldine Adventure Race, with a new look uniform - see below- the teams had a great day (3rd for the composite team as mentioned).

Best results: Nick Pomare and Micah Pomare won the Families division= 1st!
