The staff across the...

...Christian Education Network Community of Learning (CENCOL) were blessed and inspired by Dr Michael Lindsay, President of Gordon College, USA, who spoke to us on the power of transformative Christian education. He also spoke to leaders in the school about leadership on Tuesday.

As parents we want those who teach our children to know and understand the significance of their impact on the lives of our children. Education is not neutral, nor does education have no impact. If that were the case, then why bother!

Your child’s teacher has an impact that can be far reaching. Vocations are chosen at times because of a teacher’s passion in their subject area; virtues are encouraged and developed by the teacher’s example and in the conversations teachers have with your children.

Education is not value free – it will either draw pupils closer to God or away from God. When the Science teacher marvels with the pupils at the beauty of creation, they give praise to the Creator. When the Humanities teachers speaks of Social Justice, she speaks of God’s will to care for the weak, the poor, the vulnerable. When the Primary School teacher rebukes a child, he has in mind that a life trained by discipline produces a harvest of righteousness.

Dr Michael Lindsay challenged us to know and embrace the legacy we as teachers can have in your children. What is of amazing power is that the Christian teachers at Middleton Grange have the same values and heart for your children as you do at home. In unison, working together, and through the Holy Spirit, there is great power and opportunity to influence lives for eternity.

God bless
