1) From the Principal

Kia ora Parents, Caregivers and Whanau,

This week has been Support Staff Week (7-10 June) across many schools around NZ. Many people only associate teaching staff with schools, but Middleton Grange has 56 Support Staff, who are non-teaching staff in areas such as teacher aides, administration staff, technicians, sports, venue hire, maintenance, grounds staff, canteen, uniform staff, etc.

We have a great staff here at Middleton Grange School (both teaching and non-teaching staff) and as the principal of this school I am very thankful to our Lord for His provision of such excellent staff. We are all here for the same reason, namely, to provide high quality Christian Education in a supportive and caring environment in partnership with Christian families.

Lateness and Attendance:

Can I remind all parents and students that, we need ALL students to be regularly attending school every school day, and arriving to school on time. I appreciate that there will be days when students are sick or unwell, or get delayed by unexpected traffic, but this should be the exception as opposed to the norm. There has been a trend of increased absenteeism and lateness this term due to Covid and the flu, but can I encourage both you as parents and your children, that it is critical that students attend school regularly (everyday) if they are well, and that they fully engage in their learning as this will result in them maximising their achievement potential.

Please feel free to contact the school if you are having any difficulties with your children attending school and we will look at ways of supporting you and working with you to resolve this.

I was encouraged by these words of scripture that I read recently:

“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds.

…. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 11:18-19

Our School Motto

Character, Excellence, Service for the Glory of God.

Board elections are being held this year as part of the triennial cycle. If you are thinking of serving the school community in this capacity as a Parent Representative, please feel free to talk to any of our existing board members about what the role involves and whether this may be something you could be involved in. We desire to have parents who are representative of our community, who have a love for our Lord and who wish to use their gifts and talents to serve God and the school community. If you would like to speak to one of our board members, please contact Hillary Carley at office@middleton.school.nz to arrange this.

5) Notice from School Environment Team

Hi there! This year the school's environment team is teaming up with a Year 13 business. We are in need of clothing (including uniform and shoes) to be dropped off to student services. Our business aims to bring this clothing new life and create an eco-friendly business that gives back to our community. Many of our future profits will be donated to the Environment Team to ensure future year groups are able to have some funds to help create a positive and environment friendly community.
