Nga Puna Wai – Christchurch - Friday 8th – Sunday 10th December

Our group of 13 athletes braved the full array of weather conditions at Nga Puna Wai over the weekend of 8th to 10th of December at the 50th National Athletics Championships.

Our relatively young team (only one Senior Athlete) had many highlights and with further development and training, we are looking forward to ‘big things’ in future.

Highlights were; Gabriel Dos Santos’s Bronze Medal in the Junior Boys Triple Jump, eleven personal best (PB’s) performances across our team and nine top ten placings. Toby Orr achieved his best performance in all his three throwing events and our Junior Boys relay team gained a 5th place while attempting the 4x400m relay event for the first time. They were disappointed to be disqualified in the 4x100m final for an ‘out of zone’ infringement. The boys were aiming for a top three finish. Tahlia Pellow ran a personal best in her Senior Girls 800m race.
