Congratulations to Janelle Ho (Year 8), for her recent award of Junior Rhythmic Gymnast of the Year for 2024. This is an amazing achievement and a testament to her hard work, dedication and past achievements in the sport over the years. We are excited to see what Janelle will continue to achieve in the sport.

Congratulations to Caitlyn Thomson (Year 13) who competed at the 2024 New Zealand Irish Dance Nationals as a member of three winning teams that became both national champions and New Zealand’s representatives for the 2025 World Championships in Dublin, Ireland which will be held soon in April. We wish Caitlyn and her team mates all the best as they compete against the best from around the world.

Congratulations to Kerryn Malcolm (our Director of the Kahika Centre) on her recent selection for the Canterbury women’s Masters hockey side as player/manager for an upcoming national event. Great job Kerryn!

Congratulations also to Daniel Malcolm (Kerryn's son and ex MGS student) who continues to excel in Volleyball – recently selected for the NZ Men’s side and the focus of attention in the USA for his University team. A standout middle blocker from Christchurch, Daniel excelled at Middleton Grange, earning Canterbury Sportsman of the Year in 2022. Now competing for Dominican University in the NCAA Division I ECC Conference, he continues to develop his game at the highest level. A two-time U19 IPC champion with Canterbury, he remains a dominant presence at the net while also coaching and mentoring young athletes.
