From the Principal

MGS —

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whanau,

The Bible talks a lot of about our thoughts. In fact, most of Jesus’ and Paul’s instructions didn’t centre around the outward appearances or things people did, but on the thoughts of their mind, and the attitudes of their hearts.

Jesus said: “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” (Luke 6:45).

The thoughts of men’s hearts give evidence to what their spiritual state is. What you think about in your mind, so you are. In other words, our mind is powerful, and we become what we think. A person is known by their actions, and we need to realize that actions begin with our thoughts.

The character of a person’s thoughts determines the character of his life. His actions are inspired from within. Every product of the soul, whether it is an action or a purpose, is first a thought.

The heart as the Bible describes, literally functions like a conscience; it gives us a gentle nudge, or a sense of warning. And as we read in the following verses, the Word of God often refers to the “thoughts of the heart”.

“Above everything else, guard your heart. Everything you do comes from it.” (Proverbs 4:23)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

“For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders…” (Matthew 15:19)

As a Christian School, we not only place great importance on providing a first-rate general education for all our students, but equally important is the development of Christian Character, based on the life and example of Jesus Christ. This is reflected in our school motto below of:

Character, Excellence, Service for the Glory of God.

As many wise people have said in several different ways:

Watch your thoughts because they become words.

Watch your words because they become actions.

Watch your actions because they become habits.

Watch your habits because they become character.

Watch your character because it becomes your destiny.

“LORD, we ask You to give us the mind and heart of Jesus Christ this day.”

We like the Psalmist should be asking God to: Create in me a clean heart . . . and renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10)

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school; financially, practically and through your prayers.

May our Lord bless us and guide us in the days and weeks ahead as we seek to serve Him and strive to keep Him first and foremost in our lives.

Blessings in Christ
