Hang out with a book!

Is your family 'Wild about Reading'?

MGS —

At the start of each new school year, we often see evidence of ‘the Summer Slide’ in our pupils. This means that the some of the gains they have made in Reading over the previous year are lost. Research shows that as much as 3 months of progress could be lost over the summer holidays. Every year!!

To help with this, we will be allowing your family to borrow books from our libraries to enjoy over the holidays.

For Primary pupils … if you wish your child to participate, please fill in the form which will been sent home soon and return it to the Primary Library by 1st December. At lunchtime on Monday 4th or Wednesday 6th of December, your children may have 10 books issued. If you would like to choose for them, or help them make their choices, the Primary Library will also be open on those two days (Monday 4th and Wednesday 6th December) from 8.30 to 9.00, and 2.30 to 3.30.

For Middle School and Secondary pupils … a form will be sent home with all Year 7 and 8 pupils; other pupils may pick one up from the Secondary Library any time before 8th December. Pupil librarians, and identified prolific readers may borrow more than 10 in consultation with Library staff.

Parents are very welcome to borrow from our collection over the Summer. We have a large section of biographies and many wonderful Christian reads, both fiction and non-fiction. Or maybe you’d like to read what your children are reading!

Click here to open our web app, and see what we have in our collections!

For your convenience, the secondary library will be open on

  • Friday 15th (9.00-4.30),
  • Monday 18th - Wednesday 20th December (10.00—3.00)
  • From 22nd - 26th  January. (9.00-4.30)

We look forward to seeing you! You can access the Library from the external glass-enclosed staircase near the uniform shop.  Contact ‘phone number is 348 9826, ext 720.

So, now the whole family can get wild about reading this Summer, and read a book (or 10)!
