Christian Focus Day
On Monday, 11th June...
...the Yr 13s took part in the second Christian Focus Day of the year. Following the large amount of feedback from the first day, the Yr 13s tackled topics that were relevant to the challenges of today's society.
We had two seminars to take us through the morning. One on apologetics, and another on how to handle the partying scene responsibly, as Christians. Mr Collier and Mrs Halliday provided a perspective on apologetics that not many had heard before. It was interesting to learn the ways that God reveals Himself to people, and how that helps us to know Him. For the second seminar, we had guest speakers David Jackman and April Holden. It was a very insightful talk, and one that provided lots of things to take away. In a world that encourages momentary satisfaction, the talk equipped us with skills to think about the real consequences of our decisions.
Stephen McAlpine and Victoria Goodman were the next guests, and had the tough job of answering all our gnarly questions. We were able to send in questions beforehand, and have them addressed on the day. The questions covered all ranges of topics, and the speakers provided great wisdom and insight for each one.
After a break for lunch and some time with friends, Perco opened the afternoon with some worship. This was a time to come together as a cohort to give God praise. We also enjoyed hearing some of our fellow students share about their faith journeys. It was encouraging to hear people that shared similar struggles or situations.
Some other highlights would be the karaoke, delicious food, and socialising with friends. The day was a nice time to come together as a cohort, away from school, and grow in our faiths together. It provided important conversations, as well as a lot of fun throughout the activities.
