MGS —

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whānau, here are this week's notices:

1. From the Principal

2. Confirmed industrial (strike) action

3. Uniform Shop Update

1) From the Principal

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,

What a week we have enjoyed here at school! I have been blessed to attend several events over the last few days, events that have highlighted and celebrated the effort and achievement of our young people. Performing Arts Awards, Created to Soar Art Exhibition, Primary School Athletics, our Primary School Culture Day, the list goes on.

I am constantly amazed how differently God has created and gifted us all. And while we honour the hard work and faithful application of those gifts by our children, we glorify the One who gave them to us. Our mission statement reminds us to ‘encourage students in their gifts and abilities to serve God and others’. What a tremendous exhortation to us all. God has gifted us, and He has asked us to take those gifts and steward them well by serving others, and ultimately Him. This is our hope and prayer.

I am incredibly thankful for our staff that apply the gifts God has given them, inspiring and investing in our children. I also thank you for your patience and understanding with the strikes over this last week. There seems to never be a dull moment in education! May God’s grace continue to keep us walking together.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend, and look forward to seeing your children back at school next week, the final one for our Year 12 and 13 students.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in it’s various forms” 1 Peter 4v10.

Ma te Atua tātou e manaaki – God bless you

Mr Gregg Le Roux

Principal

2) Confirmed industrial (strike) action

The teacher unions have voted in favour of a full strike for all members, on Thursday 23 October. We are therefore asking that all Year 1 - 13 students stay home on this day.

As I hope you can appreciate, we are continuing to balance the need for our teachers to negotiate their employment conditions, while also supporting our parents. We acknowledge that needing to keep your children home can be a significant challenge for families.

Therefore, if you are unable to have your child at home that day, there are a limited number of non-union staff that the school can use to supervise Year 1 - 9 students here at school. If this affects you, you can access and fill out the required form here: Year 1-9 Supervision Request Form

Again, can I ask you to continue to pray with us for wisdom, discernment and a prompt resolution to the industrial negotiations. We will continue to update you as any new information becomes available.

Note: The Y13 Graduation Dinner scheduled for the evening of the Thursday 23 October will continue as planned.
