It's Picnic Time!

MGS —

Year 9 & 10 Food & Nutrition classes put on a picnic for the Year 1s.

We began by designing invitations and a survey to identify our guests' lunch preferences and check there were no allergies. It was really exciting meeting the kids for the first time, giving them our invitations and finding out their food likes.

Next we practised specific cooking skills: mini pizzas and shaped biscuits & mini muffins, iced enticingly . Once we finalised our two savoury & two sweet dish menus we created menu cards & lots of extras, such as masks, glasses, and fill in games & activities.

Many of us were nervous as we cooked; would our kids like the food? It was hard remembering Year 1 pupils only have small appetites; some of us made too much food. The best part was eating together. They all loved what we cooked and many took home little leftover treats for afternoon tea.

Designing Invitations; Introductions; Practising Shaped Biscuits (3), cutting them, Tiffany icing & iced hearts; Anita & Aj; Emma & Tara; Ofa & Michaela; Phoebe; Shavaughn & Crystal; Sarah-Kate & Beka ice to order; Spiderman!

5 pictures of everything set ahead of guest arrival; in case you felt 1or2 would be better to show degree of detailed planning & prep.
