...Middleton Grange Boys 11-13 Futsal Team competed in the Mainland Schoolboys Futsal Competition. After drawing 1-1 with St Bede's College and losing to Shirley Boys High, the team had to defeat Christchurch Boys High to make the finals. They won the match 2-0 with two goals to Ethan Wong (and a clean sheet for goalkeeper Sam Burgess). In the semi-final the team took an early 1-0 lead to eventual competition winners Lincoln High thanks to a sharp goal by Zac Landers. Fatigue began to set in and Lincoln, who won the competition in a penalty shootout, eventually won. The team then lost to St Thomas' College. Nevertheless, coming fourth in a very tight competition was an impressive result.
