1) From the Principal

Kia ora Parents, Caregivers and Whanau,

Last Friday we held our Year 9-13 Athletics day on our school fields, and these proved to be another great success.  Congratulations to all those students who competed and especially to those who won their respective events.  A big thank you to our Sports Staff and the many staff helpers who supervised activities to ensure the day ran smoothly.

Our Year 7 and 8 students also enjoyed their activity days on Friday, with Year 7 students going to the Groynes and the Year 8 students going to Adrenalin Forest.  Thank you to the staff who accompanied these groups also.

This week the Year 9 Camps began at Mt White in the Arthurs Pass region.  These camps have been happening at Middleton Grange for over 20 years, and we are very thankful for the opportunity of offering these learning activities in the outdoors.  Each camp is for 3 days in duration, and students are involved in a range of activities ranging from walking through Cave Stream, cooking meals in small groups, putting up and sleeping in tents, a day hike / tramp, to participating in various adventure-based learning activities.  Teaching staff, parents and Y13 student leaders accompany the Year 9 students on each camp to ensure that there is adequate supervision and appropriate expertise for the activities being done.  These camps provide wonderful opportunities for students to experience God’s beautiful creation, whilst also providing opportunities for learning new skills and growing in character and resilience.

This week our Year 6 students have been enjoying cycle safety week, and we are very thankful to our cycle safety provider for their support with this. On Tuesday, our Year 6 students went to Godley Heads for their day trek, which was another highlight of the week for them, and on Tuesday evening, we also held our ‘Family Fun Night’, which was postponed from last week. Thank you to the many parents and children who attended and enjoyed the time of fellowship and food.  This is another way of supporting each other in achieving our school’s vision of “Middleton Grange School assists families in the education of their children by providing an environment in which the Biblical truths of Jesus Christ are taught and lived”.
