Pupils were asked to design a product of their choice.

The class decision was to design a creative and innovative piece of furniture for the home. Following a design process of exploration, each pupil selected one of their design concepts which they refined to a final solution using freehand sketching. The final solution was firstly drawn with instruments to define its shape and size. Once completed, each pupil created their final design using the computer application of Sketch-Up. Using the Sketch-Up model, each design was printed with the 3D printer to form a model with which the design features could be analysed and evaluated. As can be seen from the range of models shown, the pupils’ solutions were both diverse and creative - a successful project.
