Life in Lockdown Stories from 7KE

MGS —

During lockdown students from 7KE were asked to write a story about Life in Lockdown. Below are a few samples.

Life in Lockdown

I never knew how serious this really was until they shut the borders.

It was a shock how fast we went into level four. I honestly never thought it would happen so soon!

Now that are we in isolation it seems lonely being in separation from friends and family.

All this time it's been boring; yet somehow I found ways to occupy myself. Dad and I sometimes go for bike rides and now that we are stuck inside there's so much more reason to go for a bike since dad doesn't have as much work, which I would really call a fantastic highlight! Another great outcome that I would bring up is that I have had so much more time to finish one of my grand designs, my original toothpaste dispenser idea.

I feel like this lockdown has enabled me to realise how much freedom we really have on a normal day! I have also noticed that being in this time has helped me to trust in the Lord instead of my own moves and my parent’s guidance. I have also been able to get hold of my friends email addresses as well, and if we were not in this position then I most likely wouldn't have .

Some of the hardest things of being in lockdown is that you can't see your friends and other family. Before the lockdown, I also struggled keeping a two metre distance away from others. It's really nice being home with my family for four weeks! I am used to being home a lot

after all the home schooling last year and this has helped me settle into schooling from home.

I hope this lockdown will draw me closer to God and help me to trust in Him instead of my own sinful nature and this will not last forever and I know it will make me stronger. As Psalm 46:1 says, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble."

Life in Lockdown

Not long after school closed, it was my little sister's birthday, and she was turning eight. Me, Zoe, and Dad stayed up later than her so that we could hang up balloons and decorations. Mum and Dad got her a netball hoop, and when she saw it she was overjoyed. All of that afternoon we played netball on our long driveway.

A few days later, my gym coach gave us a challenge. To do a 30 second handstand without walking on our hands. I was practicing all day until finally I did one. My coach said that after isolation she would give me a chocolate bar, and so I was very proud of myself.

One day we were also allowed to pitch our tent in our back yard so that we could sleep out for the night. Mum couldn't though, because she got a bit sick. The next morning it was Easter, so we got up and were allowed to look for the hidden eggs.

After Easter, I decided that I was going to write a narrative. I write narratives a lot, and I made this one about a stray dog called Pug, that once had an owner, but their granny bullied him so much he ran away. Pug then finds ways to travel the world, and find a new owner that would take care of him for the rest of his life.

Yesterday I got bored, so dad took me and my sisters to the river and go on a bike ride. We found really cool rocks. Some were flat, some were colourful, and some had interesting patterns. After the bike ride back it got quite dark, and my sisters and I went outside to bounce on the trampoline with our head lights. We wrapped one around a tree branch, and the other we put on the top of our fort.

In conclusion I have done many interesting things in lockdown with my family, and have enjoyed spending more time with them.

Life in Lockdown

On the 26th of March NZ was put into level 4 lockdown due to corona virus. So everything was shut besides the supermarket and some essential places.

At first lockdown was a strange feeling.

Not being able to go to school or see my grandparents has been hard.

My birthday was the 29th of March, it felt different from any other years because we couldn't go anywhere. But my birthday was great we watched 2 movies and played loads of games and ate lots of birthday food.

I play table tennis everyday with my dad for a long time for my exercise. I also run around the back yard with my little sister. Table tennis was probably the best part besides my birthday. I am looking forward to going back to school and living a normal live when it all ends.
