An article from Tony Kan, a Board of Trustees Parent Representative...

New and not sure what to expect

I was elected to the board just a few month ago. Having worked in the private sector and served as an independent company director for many years I was interested to see how things were done at Middleton Grange School.

Inspired by what I found

In the short time I have been a trustee, I have seen:

  • How the Authentic Christian Teaching programme is transforming our teachers. In so doing strengthening their relationship and our children’s relationship with God. This remarkable programme exists because of your Voluntary Donations.

  • The many reports from visitors of the kindness and grace that our students have shown toward them and to one another.

  • How trustees maintain Middleton Grange School’s Special Character.

  • The teachers and pupils going about their work with passion, dedication and excellence.

  • That the school does not reject pupils because they have below average ability.

  • How pupils are not being left behind because they are receiving the extra support they need.

  • That the school’s finance and governance processes are clear and well organised.

Even with seeking first the kingdom of God, we see high grade averages, extraordinary pass rates and notable achievements in all sorts of extra-curricular activities.

Middleton Grange School is a living testament that all the material things we worry about will be provided by our Father God, if we but focus on Him first. Inspiring.

You too can be inspired by their heartwarming stories because the teachers’ reports that we trustees receive, are now published on the school website http://www.middleton.school.nz/mgs/triennial-reports/.

What we can do

Amidst all the good news and heartening stories, challenges remain.

The world around us rebels against God’s ideas about ethics, sexuality and what is important.

Yet no one, who has ever met God, has ever been the same again. This is the key to walking faithfully with God.

Therefore, we parents and teachers are in partnership to teach our children how to nurture a first-hand relationship with God.

We are blessed by God with outstanding teachers, teacher aids, administration staff and trustees who are genuinely dedicated to our children’s well-being. Pray for them all.

And in this way, you and I will be seeking first the kingdom of God too. Then we can thank God together when with awe, we see “all these things” are indeed “added unto you.”
