SISS Canoe Polo Results/World Champs
Last week...
...we had four Canoe Polo teams travel to Oamaru for the South Island Secondary School Championships. We had some excellent results, with two South Island titles and a third placing.
Brad Taylor and Emma Taylor (nee Malcolm) put together the trip and had the assistance of some great coaches (mostly ex-students) and a huge army of parent support. Big thanks also to Kerryn Malcolm for attending the tournament as our staff representative.
Senior Open 1st - defeating Shirley BHS 4-3 in a closely fought final.
Senior Girls 1st - with a Tessa Given golden goal to defeat a combined South Island Girls team 3-2.
Junior Open 3rd.
Boys tournament team: Dan Malcolm, Cam Boag, Flynn Adamson
Girls tournament team: Abbie Ward, Kaitlyn Adams, Alex Prince, Tessa Given, Sophia Choe
Emma is currently in St-Omer, France for the Canoe Polo World Champs, and her NZ Senior Women's team have started brilliantly with three wins over Denmark, Italy and Ireland. Ave White is also competing with the NZ U21 team, and they have five wins from their first five games, including a win over tournament favourites Germany who are chasing their fifth consecutive world title. I will keep you posted as the tournament gets closer to the finals.
