During the second week of the term...

...Year 8 had their market week. Market week is part of a Social Studies topic called Money doesn’t Grow on Trees. This study helps them look at basic business ideas and put together a stall to sell goods to other pupils over three lunchtimes. Pupils made things like fudge, sold ice creams, made fancy pencils and interesting squishies.

The pupils have to manage their budget, look at costs, and learn about profit, loss and maybe break even! Plenty of learning happened across the lunch times and even more when they had to balance their accounts!

This year the pupils have done an outstanding job and will have a good amount of money to give to the charity group called, Foster Hope.
