On a beautiful Christchurch morning last Tuesday...

...we had the launch of our new programme that all the Year 10’s are doing this year, called Te Haerenga – The Journey. After a great deal of planning and preparation, the PE department has implemented a programme called The Rite Journey into our year 10 PE curriculum.

On Tuesday, in the presence of parents, caregivers and MGS staff, we ‘called’ our Year 10’s to go on this journey from childhood into adolescence and the start of the challenging path towards becoming a young adult. The ceremony included messages from Matua Pairama Moon, Reverend Doctor Michael Reid and our Principal, Mike Vannoort. The students read a letter of gratitude to their parents/caregivers which was a poignant part of the morning.

The students then enjoyed some food before heading over to Rannerdale sports fields for a full day of interesting and challenging activities led by the PE staff.
