Teaching Staff 2020

MGS —

We welcome several new members to the our staff in 2020.

Tessa Cameron

Kia ora! My name is Tessa Cameron and I will be teaching English at Middleton Grange this year. I am hugely passionate about English, as well as the areas of History and Classical Studies which I am also qualified to teach. I have the privilege of knowing a couple of the English dept outside of Middleton, but am excited to get to know the rest of the department and staff as we work together. I have lived in Christchurch my whole life, attending Burnside High School and then University of Canterbury where I majored in History. I have also attended church for the majority of my life and am very passionate about worship. I also love reading, writing, and spending quality time with my family and friends, playing board games or watching movies. I am looking forward to interacting and getting to know the students at Middleton, and helping them connect with not only English, but God and what he has in store for them.

Fong Chong

By God's grace I will be teaching Digital Technologies to year 9 to 13 pupils. I also thank Middleton Grange for giving me this opportunity to learn together with the staff and pupils here. I am married with two boys aged 12 and 9. Our family goes to the True Jesus Church where I have attended since my secondary school days. I came from Singapore about 19 years ago to study Computer Science at the University of Canterbury. I enjoy fishing and travelling. I ask God to guide me in my teaching here and look forward to learn together with all of you.

Margie Cox

Kia ora, my name is Margie Cox. This year I have begun my first year of teaching and I am already so thankful that this is at Middleton Grange School. I am privileged to be at a school where classroom learning our Christian faith are interwoven. I am a Year 7 Homeroom teacher and qualified to teach all primary school subjects after having graduated from the University of Canterbury. I have a particular interest in the English as this was the major of my BA. I grew up in Dipton (a farming district in Southland) on a sheep farm then moved up to the big city to attend University. My husband and I are a part of Latimer Church and attend the 7pm service. When the opportunity arises, I love to get outside and find a track to tramp, otherwise, I enjoy baking and cooking. I look forward to the year ahead.

David Farmer

My name is David Farmer. I am the new Assistant Director of the International College. I am excited to be a staff member at Middleton Grange this year. I previously taught at St Andrew’s College, Christchurch for 34 years; 32 as a Deputy Principal. I originally trained as a Secondary Science teacher in England. I also attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London on a performance music scholarship. I am married with four adult children. I am also an Anglican priest. I have a farm near Tai Tapu, Christchurch. I love the Lord. Interacting with young people as they grow in wisdom and in faith, I have always found both rewarding and challenging. I am excited with this next chapter of His leading.

Pairama Moon

Tēnā koutou katoa whanau!

My name is Pairama Moon and I have been teaching for the last 17 years at Kingslea School which brings education to our most at risk youth at Te Puna Wai O Tuhinapo, Youth Residence. I am looking forward to combining my first passion which is my love for Jesus Christ the love I have for teaching and developing young people. Married to my beautiful wife of 15 years with 5 children, my wife and I are currently pastoring the youth Ministry at the Celebration Centre called 412. I am passionately in love with Jesus, bold in the declaration of my faith and zealous about his works and I am looking forward to the challenge of teaching our nations indigenous language and culture while promoting Te Kotahitanga (unity) and aroha (love) through Jesus Christ. On a less serious note I also love Motorbikes, skating, mostly downhill, all of the Marvel movies and KFC.

Chris Murray

Tēnā tātou MGS whānau, ko Chris Murray toku ingoa. I am excited to be teaching Workshop Technology as a first year teacher at Middleton Grange this year. I have been a support staff member at MGS since the end of 2012, so I am well aware of the calibre and outstanding character of both the pupils and teaching staff at this school, a culture I look forward to contributing to.

Originally from Te Puke, I have been a resident of Christchurch since 2002. My wife Jen and I have been married for 12 years, and we attend Life Church at La Vida. We have been blessed with two energetic children: Ryder, 3; and his sister, Nova, who began school at Middleton halfway through 2019.

When I find the time I thoroughly enjoy making things, particularly stringed musical instruments (Music is my other teaching subject, and I have been playing Bass for worship teams and touring bands for the past 22 years). I am looking forward to growing as a teacher during my time at Middleton, and I pray that I may provide manaakitanga and tautoko for the young men and women who journey through the school. Kia ora.

Helen Williamson

Kia ora koutou. My name is Helen Williamson and I am returning to MGS after having spent some valuable time at Emmanuel Christian School as Head of Middle School. My specialist subject is Maths and Stats, although, for me teaching is about connecting with young people and journeying alongside them, helping them navigate the challenges they face as they grow. I’m a sports fan, basketball coach and recreational runner (as the years slip by perhaps recreational slow jogger might be more appropriate). I’m looking forward to being involved in the whole life of the school at MGS.
