Lunch is served

MGS —

The Year 1 Picnic helped prepare the Year 10 Food and Nutrition class for the pressure of cooking & delivering food in a restricted time.

Parents, homestays & agents were invited, and teachers were happy to fill in for those who couldn't come and enjoy the lunch cooked for them. Having the menu restricted to Stirfry Chicken mains and Fruit Crumble for dessert was disappointing for those who had practised other dishes, but with many pupils away due to illness or  other school programmes, the only option was to opt for dishes which were fail-safe!

The goal, instead, was to go overboard with presentation - setting tables with candles, menu cards, carafes, creative linen combinations and a range of lovely new crockery that has been bought for catering (thanks Miss Barney!).

Although it was hard to get food ready and still be hosts, especially when several guests were late, everyone had a great time.  Guests reported they really both appreciated and enjoyed our efforts: the food, presentation and hosting skills.  Cleaning up could have been better; where did the time go?
