MGS —

Anne MacKechnie

Tēnā koutou! I am excited to have the privilege of starting my teaching career at Middleton Grange, where I have been appointed to teach General Science and Biology. I have just finished my studies at the University of Canterbury. During my time there I explored a range of Sciences, including Biology and Psychology. Studying Cognition and Educational Psychology really sparked my interest in the brain and how people actually learn. This has given me a much greater appreciation of this complex organ that God has created in us. I am interested in sport and fitness, especially hockey, so I also thoroughly enjoyed studying Sports Coaching during my time at university. I attend St John’s Anglican Church, where I am continually encouraged by the Word of God that is shared there. Having always attended secular schools I am really grateful to be working in a Christian environment and look forward to growing in my own faith and encouraging this growth in my pupils too.

I will be teaching room 5 (year 2) as a first year teacher at Middleton Grange this year. It has been fantastic to get to know some of the primary teaching staff and I look forward to learning a lot from them this year. I have been bought up in a Christian home and I have attended church my whole life. I really enjoy serving in the Church and building strong relationships, I was a kid’s church and a youth group leader. I am interested in photography, scrapbooking, outdoor adventures and hockey. I’m looking forward to seeing God work in my life and my student’s life this year. It is a real privileged to be a part of the Middleton Grange community.

Kia ora . I have been teaching for 4 years at West Spreydon School. This year I am at Middleton Grange to teach year 7! I am looking forward to being in an environment where faith is openly shared and discussed. I come from a Christian family background. We moved countries a lot in my childhood due to work opportunities. I was born in Oxford, U.K., we spent two years in Washington D.C. in later primary and I went to high school in Auckland. I spent two years in the States working at a summer camp as a swimming teacher and lifeguard prior to teaching. I have always found joy being a dolphin in the water! In 2011 I moved to Christchurch to begin Teachers’ College. There I found Equippers church which has been my family away from home for the past 7 years. Feel free to pop in and say hello, you are always welcome.

I'm excited to be re-joining the teaching staff at Middleton Grange this year as a teacher of Music and Mathematics. My passion for music, especially in the areas of music technology and choral work, has led me to pursue opportunities in choirs as the President of the Christchurch Youth Choir and in starting my own sound hire company. I also enjoy cricket, web design, and serving in numerous roles at church.

I come from Changzhi, Shanxi Province, China. I will be at Middleton Grange School for one year to be the Mandarin (Chinese) Language Assistant. This year, I will help the Chinese teachers introduce Chinese language and culture. I like reading and travelling. While I’m here, I hope to not only share about Chinese culture, but also learn more about New Zealand culture and travel all over New Zealand.

I am brand new to Middleton Grange. I am teaching a gorgeous bunch of year 8 pupils and will also teach Science and Digital Technology.  For the past 4 years I have been teaching Year 3/4 pupils at West Spreydon School. I ran the performing arts programme and co-lead kapahaka.

I grew up just outside of Oamaru by the beach in Kakanui. I have three brothers and my parents still live in Kakanui. This is my eighth year in Christchurch and I still feel very blessed to live here: close to the beach for swimming and close to the mountains for snowboarding. I have been going to Grace Vineyard for the past year and a half and before that I was going to South West Baptist.

My strengths are: positivity, belief, WOO (winning others over), developer and communication. I love knowing what people’s strengths are so I can understand them better and know how we can work best together.

I chose Middleton to be my school because I want to work alongside families, friends and the community to make the next generation discover God’s merciful love for them. I like that I can help build that foundation in God every day, that I can inspire and ignite who God created them to be.

WOW!! The privilege!!

It is a privilege to be joining the teaching team at Middleton Grange. I am excited to be working in room 9 with a wonderful group of year 3 students. I have lived in Christchurch my whole life and am an active member of the Northcity Church whanau. Some of my interests are dance, drama, sport, and art, and I look forward to what God has in store for me and my students this year.

I will be teaching Senior History and Junior Social Studies. I am a first-year teacher and studied at the University of Otago and Massey University. I have previously worked in student ministry for 3 years and a freight manager for a year. My wife and 1-year-old Kobe moved to Christchurch from Waimate this year. We attend Riccarton Community Church. I am a big fan of Basketball and following the Lakers. I am excited to be at Middleton Grange School to help strengthen young people in their faith and develop critical thinking skills in all aspects of life.

I am teaching Mathematics and Mandarin at Middleton Grange this year. I taught in Singapore at National Junior College, Methodist Girls’ School (also MGS) Primary and Pathlight School (for Autism). I worshipped at the Fisherman of Christ Fellowship in Singapore. I love music, singing and reading. I am humbled and grateful that the Lord has opened the door for my family (my husband, daughter and me) to reside in New Zealand. It’s a privilege and a wonderful blessing to work with colleagues and parents who both fear and love the Lord. I’m looking forward to giving and growing at Middleton Grange, both spiritually and as a teacher.
