Canterbury Schools Programming Competition
This is an annual competition...
...where the keenest programmers work in teams to solve a range of computing problems. Hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University on Saturday 2nd July, this year there were 32 teams competing.
We had eight students representing Middleton this year: Molly Sankey, Katelyn Gee, Jireh Tseng (Year 11) Jack Andrews, Tina Qian, and Jess Hansen (Year12) and Wen-Qi Toh and Thanh Do (Year 13).
There were more than 75 students involved in the competition which was eventually won by Burnside High School. Although not placed this year, all three of our teams did remarkably well. It was encouraging to see that six of our eight competitors were girls and that our Year 11 team finished in the middle of the field, well ahead of many more senior competitors.
We continue to be blessed as a school in having such excellent programming talent and our students’ willingness to compete with the best in our region. There will be several other opportunities to compete in similar competitions throughout the year.
