1) From the Principal
Kia ora Parents, Caregivers and Whanau,
This week we have celebrated ‘Support Staff Week’ to recognize the important work that our Support Staff do for both our teachers and students at Middleton Grange. As the saying goes, ‘it takes a village to raise a child’; and that certainly applies in our school where there are so many key stakeholders who input into the lives of our young people, especially to shape and develop their Christian character and faith.
We are also thankful for the smooth transition to Alert Level 1 over this past week and for the parental support in ensuring your children are attending school.
Teachers are busy preparing school reports which will be circulated to parents in the coming weeks and then parents will have the opportunity to meet with their child’s teachers early in Term 3, so please take advantage of this opportunity as we continue to support the learning and achievement of your child/ren.
Psalm 25:4
“Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.”

Blessings

2) Uniform Shop Updates
The Uniform Shop is now open for normal hours.
Monday and Thursday 12.30-4.00pm
Blazers, Kilts and Pinafores will not be here until the end of June. A school wide notice will go out once they are ready to be collected.
Next Second Hand Intake Day; Monday 27 July 12.30-4.00pm
All blazers and kilts must be dry-cleaned and all garments must be in a good condition. All other details are available on our website.
Please bring a completed intake form with you.
3) Hand Sanitiser
60ml spray bottles for sale - $5.00 per bottle
These are very economical due to the spray delivery, and a handy pocket size. These usually sell for between $5 to $6 RRP per bottle and any profit from the sale of these bottles will go to Middleton Grange School.
These are available for purchase at both the Primary School Office/Main Reception.
4) Uniform Reminder
Owing to ongoing delays, border and manufacture, our supplier is still unable to deliver our stock orders in the quantities and at the speed we would like. We will therefore be extending the current period of grace indefinitely, and most likely until the end of Term 2. The uniform shop will continue to fill orders as uniform becomes available and you will be emailed individually when your order is ready to be collected.
Updated uniform guidelines
In light of the above we are now accepting:
- Full summer, full winter or a combination of both if you don't have full in either.
- Warm undergarments – we suggest merino or polyprop; or t-shirts are useful also.
- A plain coloured jacket as substitute for the blazer.
Please – no hoodies.
5) Reminder - School Magazine 2020
Dear Parents,
Our wonderful School Magazine Editor is looking at blank pages on account of the number of events that have been unable to go ahead because of Covid-19.
She has some great ideas to make it a memorable edition but she needs your help! We would particularly like some photos and articles from Senior College Students.
If you took any photos of life in lockdown, activities or amazing creations your son/daughter came up with (not too much baking, please!!) during the lockdown, our Editor would be hugely grateful if you would share those so that she can build something of worth for generations ahead to look back on.
If you are able to contribute, please email your items to r.velluppillai@middleton.school.nz.
Thank you so much.
Mrs R Velluppillai - Head of Senior College
6) Canteen
Parent Volunteers Urgently Needed
We are in need of some parent help in our school canteen. The staff in the canteen need some help from 9am-10.30am, Monday to Friday.
These times can be filled by several people, you do not need to be available for all five days.
If you are able to help we would LOVE to hear from you! Please email Hillary Carley on office@middleton.school.nz with possible times you could assist.
We would really appreciate your support.
7) Uniform Assistant Position
- Hours of work will vary throughout the year ranging from 7.5 hours to 10 hours weekly, term time only. A schedule detailing these can be obtained with the employment pack.
- There may be one day during holidays on needs to basis plus a yearly stock take during Term 2 holidays.
- Starting date: Monday 29 June 2020 or sooner by negotiation
If you enjoy taking responsibility for your role and adding value to what you do, have great interpersonal skills with adults and students alike, may have retail shop experience and enjoy working within a dynamic School Uniform Shop team environment, then this could be just the position you are looking for.
