Y10 Leadership Activity Day

Katie Jo van den Bogaert —

Leadership Day started with lots of anticipation and excitement as the 20 of us were driven out to...

... Orton Bradley Park. When we got there, we were greeted by 2 friendly adventure leaders. They gave us advice on how we could lead younger children through similar activities. Our first adventure of the day was the low ropes course; it was a test of our tactical skills as the competitive spirit set in.

Then my group ventured off to the high ropes course ,which terrified some, but thrilled others. This was the highlight of my day as it pushed me outside my comfort zone.

Our next challenge was Bear Grylls style! We had to put together a pulley and ropes system to get us across the river. This was a real challenge of our teamwork as we all had conflicting ideas – but we got there in the end.

As the day came to a close we gathered together and reflected on our achievements and how we can use our leadership skills to empower others. Sadly the day ended but we drove away with grins on our faces thinking about how much better that was than sitting an algebra test!
