“Trek-About Tuesday” – A Yr 6 Adventure

Gideon Wong —

On February 27th, ...

... we drove to Lyttlelton Harbour, as we were travelling to an island that I’ve never been to before. When we arrived at Quail Island on the boat, I searched for crabs. I saw some very small and fragile ones under the rocks.

The parent who drove us to Lyttelton was guiding a group of us around the island. We had to complete a scavenger hunt, which, believe me, wasn’t easy. We searched for hours to complete our quest for old things.

Oh, how it stung when I accidentally fell onto a heap of stinging nettle. The pain crawled silently through my body, while I screamed in agony! But, I am a brave boy, and I ran through the nettle and kept on going.

After we finally finished our scavenger hunt, our teacher forced more pain upon us by giving us an orienteering course to do. We scrambled across the island, trying to follow as many clues as we could. Although we didn’t find very many, we still came in third place.

Finally, we travelled back by boat, and then in the parent’s car to Middleton Grange.

Even though we had lots of pain on the trip, “Trek-about Tuesday” was truly a fantastic experience of discovery!
