A report from the Board of Trustees Parent Representatives

The Board - Behind The Scenes

We thought it was time for a behind the scenes report from the Board of Trustees Parent Reps. You elected Glen Buckner and myself in 2016 and Tony Kan very recently. Glen is currently serving as our co-chair, Tony comes in experienced and is heading next year’s strategic planning consultation and I am holding my own as the mum voice for the parents (I even had my new born at meetings last year to keep it real).

So if you think the board comprises of lengthy meetings late into the evening, copious amounts of reading, dredging through boring documents and drinking cups of tea – you would be correct. We also have lots of laughs, are challenged in our faith and are privileged to be able to see the school functioning behind the scenes. We get to see firsthand the dedication of the staff. We see that ‘Character, Excellence and Service for the Glory of God’ isn’t just on the school letter head but is being modelled from the top down. And we get to join staff as they pray for your children and the school community.

So if you are wondering if your children and the future of Christian education are in safe hands – absolutely. If your considering whether to pay your voluntary donation or not – do it. I have been shown evidence year after year of these funds being used to develop Christian teaching. We can use every dollar and it is worth every dollar. If you have ever considered being on the board – get praying about it. Next year board elections will be held.

So if we see you in the car park, assembly or prizegiving say hi and hit us up with questions (we love it).

Mel Hikuroa, Parent Rep.
