Reflections from Room 14...

Tūhono was a great event to participate in. Our group was years 4-6. We performed a waita tera, waita-a-ringa, and our school haka. It felt so good to be back on the stage. I was one of the leaders along with Joanna and Hannah Grace. We won third place, I got first equal with the male leader, third place haka, and much more. Overall, I thought we tried our best and did outstanding.

This year, the year 6, 5, and 4 participated at the Kapahaka Tournament Tūhono and our leader were Joel Willson, Joanna Omondiagbe and Hannah Grace Harvey. While we were preforming the light were bright as we looked up so we couldn’t look at the people as we performed our waiata He kororia, Waitaha E and our school Haka. My favourite part of all at Kapahaka was that everyone sang Ko Te whirika and did the haka of Tahupotiki as Joel and Joanna lead the Haka of Tahupotiki Joel was first for the Male leader over all we came third for Tuhono 2023.

This year, the years 6,5 and 4 participated in Tuhono and our leaders were Joel, Joanna, and Hannah Grace. The lights were shining as we performed our Waita which was called He Kororia, the action song called Waitaha E and our school Haka. I really enjoyed performing and watching others perform as well. My favorite part is still when everyone sang Ko Te Whikira and did the haka of Tahupotiki. We came third overall, third place in haka, and Joel was first equal male leader. It was really fun.
