Congratulations to Dylan Baxter (Year 8), who has been having great success with his Jiu Jitsu. Dylan recently competed in an international competition with competitors travelling from Australia to compete in the Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro tournament in Auckland. Dylan fought three competitiors and won GOLD finishing the last fight with a submission chock that has never, in the history of the club, been achieved. Dylan is now a candidate for Submission of the Year!
Congratulations also to Raya Stuart (Year 5) who recently on the NZ Dance made for Year 5 section! Raya competed against a section of eight kids and came out as the Champion of Year 5! Way to go Raya.
Congratulations to Josh Fa'alogo, Peter Garrett, Hunter Manning, Josiah Weston, Samuel Wong (Year 8 students), and Braxton Manning and Johnathan Schubach (Year 7 students) who are part of the Halswell United U13 Stars, coached by ex-student Ethan Manning. These boys and their team played in the Cup Final for their division against the Mid Canterbury Utd 13 Wolves which came down to a 2 all draw, to finish the season first equal (after a serious injury stopped the game with 10 minutes to go) . Its been a great season for this team which has grown so much together. When the boys finish their games, the end cheer is: three cheers for opposing team, one for the ref, one for us and All for God. It has been great to see the way these boys have shared their love for God with the rest of their team who have joined in on this cheer. Special mention to Josh who was awarded Players Player of the Year and Hunter who was awarded Player of the Year at the recent prizegiving.
Congratulations to Sakalia Tuiloma (Year 13) for coming 1st in the Senior Samoan Interschool Speech Competition out of 17 students.
