Congratulations to Luke Jansen (Year 11) and Caleb Jansen (Year 9) who spent the holidays competing in numerous National and South Island events. The boys both competed in the South Island Road Cycling Championships (didn't place but both got PB's), the New Zealand Secondary School Rogaine Championship, where the boys raced as a team and won their Grade - so are National Champions in the Junior grade and were placed 4th overall in all grades, the New Zealand Secondary School Orienteering Champs - both Sprint and Long courses where placings were also achieved and also the South Island Secondary School Cyclocross Championships where Luke placed 1st in the Under 17's and Caleb finished 2nd in a tough race in the Under 15's. Well done boys on your outstanding efforts.
Congratulations to Elaine Liu (Year 7) who represented the Canterbury U13B team who attended the Badminton New Zealand Junior Team Championships. The biggest junior badminton event in NZ 2024 with over 650 juniors playing hard at Palmerston North from 7-10 July 2024. Elaine is a key player in the team showing tenacity and fighting hard to gain points for her team. She advanced to the finals of the singles and girls doubles . Canterbury U13B team won the silver medal at NZJTC.
Congratulations to several students at school who recently competed in the South Island Shows Offs on the 28th July for Cheerleading.
Payton Hutchinson (Year 9) competed in her two teams Panthers (Level 3) and Fiercekatz (Level 4). Panthers placed 1st and were Grand Champs and Fiercekatz placed 1st and were also awarded Grand Champs.
Mia Gordon (Year 5) and her team – Kittens (Level 1) placed 1st.
Peyton Manning (Year 5) and her team - Superkatz (Novice) placed 3rd.
