MGS — August 21, 2024
Bright and early on Tuesday, 13th August...
...a hundred buzzing Year 8's and a handful of staff and parents assembled under the Big Tree for the briefing and prayer that begun our annual ski trip.
Three big busses were waiting for us to load on…and then we were off! Through Christchurch to Methven and up Mt Hutt. The ski was clear and blue, the road a little icy, the mountain packed with people.
After gearing up with skis, snowboards, boots and helmets, the Middleton Grange Year 8's took to the mountain. Experienced skiers boosted up in groups with some pro-skier dads while first-timers had lessons and went on the Magic Carpet.
Before we knew it, stomachs were growling for lunch and skiers and snowboarders took breaks before heading up chairlifts for the final few runs. We all managed to get back on the busses safely to MGS before the sun went down. Well done to the Year 8's who showed outstanding resilience, especially to the many students who gave this a go for the first time.
Our massive thanks go to all the parents who volunteered their time to support and allow students to enjoy the mountain at all levels – we could not have done the trip without you! We also really appreciated the patience and kindness of the ski instructors at Mt Hutt. Glory to God for his provision of safety for our whole group, the beautiful weather he blessed us with and for a joy-filled day.
