New Zealand Programming Contest - 19th August

...of Computer Science students gave up their Saturday afternoon to compete, for five hours, against the best high school programmers in the country. This competition is open to programmers at all levels and competitors are not only from Secondary and Tertiary institutions, but professional software developers in the industry. All competitors, regardless of category, are given the same problem set.

Middleton is blessed to have some excellent programmers again this year and, from our senior Computer Science classes, we were represented by Andrew Denne, from Year 12, with Jack Andrews and Nathan Smith from Year 13. The boys did very well, finishing 14th out of the 50 teams who competed. All are seasoned participants in these competitions, having first been participants when they were in Year 11. We look forward to watching their achievements in the future.
