MGSApril 9, 2024

Four year 10 and one year 12 students...

...attended a series of three, two-day E Whiti! E Whiti! Workshops organised by the Ministry of Education and Tātai Aho Rau Core Education. The students worked with students from other Ōtautahi | Christchurch schools to solve real-world problems of local businesses and organisations. They first engaged in a two-day design learning workshop that taught them about user-centred design and gave them the opportunity to walk through the city centre critiquing designs of around the environment. They then spent the other two, two-day sessions brain-storming, researching and then proposing a solution for a problem from an organisation they chose to work with and resolve.

Three students worked on an energy equity, security and sustainability project for Orion Energy and the other two worked on a global warming related project for Antarctica for Christchurch NZ. They all proposed innovative solutions for the organisations they worked with.

The students found this program beneficial and interesting and think that they learned valuable lessons from this program.
