Te Ohu Kahika: Centre for Leadership Development and Influence

By Kerryn Malcolm - Te Ohu Kahika Director

Tucked in the corner of Middleton Grange School is Te Ohu Kahika: Centre for Leadership Development and Influence. The Kahika Centre exists to release our young men and women into our nation equipped not just with an exceptional education, but with insight into their unique gifting, armed with leadership acumen and actively engaged in a greater purpose for their lives. The Centre is entering its 4th year of development and has achieved a groundswell in the pupils and teaching teams who now anticipate excellence, fun, creativity as well as valuable knowledge and skills being imparted from the space.

Despite the covid crazy of 2022, we continued to develop and enhance our regular workshops and lab days, while adding some exciting new events to the calendar like a Women in Leadership Lab, Stress Management Workshops and Finance Workshops.

PUPIL FEEDBACK:

Women in Leadership Lab

“The highlight for me were all the speakers, and just overall learning a new perspective to leadership, especially from a woman’s point of view.” - Gloria Vlasin

“It was amazing. You should do one each term and set challenges so when we next see each other we can see how we did and have practical advice etc”- Lorelei Halgreen

Jo Morrow imparting wisdom to our girls

CEO Business Studies Workshop:

“I learnt to listen better. I also learnt about the concept of a company culture, which lead me to asking my stepdad and grandad about culture who both own businesses themselves. I personally suggest to carry on this course/workshop in the future as it is genuinely beneficial for students...” - Zach Rout

International Leaders Lunchtime Workshops

“The highlight of being on the International Leadership Team was all the things I learnt at the Kahika Centre. It was really good” – Joseph Wong
