Adult English Class

...there is an English class for caregivers of Middleton Grange School students. This week we made muffins. We learnt the names of different ingredients and equipment needed for baking. We also learnt how to read a recipe before our new language was put to the test. It was fun to bake and to chat together.

The parents commented that they had thought baking was difficult, but they discovered they could do it. It gave them confidence to try it on their own.  Another parent said that her child was proud of her and that they were happy their parents were able to bake. 

It is our hope that if we support the parents in learning English and understanding school and NZ culture, they will be better able to support and share life with their children.
