The Smart Christchurch Innovation Expo...
...was held at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre on the 10th and 11th September. This was exciting event where a wide range of interactive exhibitors showcased the latest developments in a range of technologies.
Ten of our Middleton Students attended one of the workshops, hosted by local company PB Tech, where they gained hands-on experience in the building of a personal computer from the ground up. They were shown how to identify the key components including the Central Processing Unit (CPU), Motherboard, Random Access Memory (RAM), Solid State Drive (SSD), Graphics Card, Power Supply, and how to correctly connect them all inside the Case.
The students, who were mostly from Year 12 but included one from Year 9, all acquired a good understanding of the components and their functional interoperability. They also had the chance to explore other displays and demonstrations at the Expo which included Extended Reality, Robotics, 3D Printing, and eGaming technologies.
